Have you ever wondered why you pray in Jesus name and nothing happens? How you even raised your voice when saying Jesus and the only thing that occurred was you losing your voice? Or maybe you found yourself saying Jesus more than once hoping that would do a difference?
It’s not about the quantity of how many times you say Jesus or the quality of your pronunciation or even the volume you use.
It’s not about the pronunciation or the mention of his name bringing authority but the association with the person of the name.
In Acts 19:13 it read:
“Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists undertook to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “I adjure you by the Jesus whom Paul proclaims.””
Acts 19:13 ESV
These Jewish exorcists most likely pronounced the name of Jesus as the correct pronunciation of Yeshua but still did not have the authority to operate in deliverance.
Why is that?
Because they had no connection to the name but only used it for its benefit.
They had no association with the person of the name but wanted to be connected to his assets.
How many believers tend to call on Jesus
Or use his name only when it benefits them?
They have lost their relationship with the person but still want the connection to the gifts and attributes.
In verse Acts 19:13 –
I command you by the Jesus that Paul preaches-
- They immediately disconnected themselves from any association with the person of Jesus.
- The word preaches here in Greek is kerysso
Which means: to be a herald (royal
Messenger) to proclaim on behalf of the official who sent you
It’s a kingdom/ governmental term
Used as – to be sent as an official messenger of the government or kingdom
-to speak on behalf of the king
This is why you can repeat the name of Jesus so many times and nothing happens. It’s not about the pronunciation of the name or how many times you can say it but your connection to the person with the name.
Prior In verses 11 and 12 it says l:
“And God was doing extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul, so that even handkerchiefs or aprons that had touched his skin were carried away to the sick, and their diseases left them and the evil spirits came out of them.”
Acts 19:11-12 ESV
One thing to note is that you don’t have to pronounce the name of Jesus x100 times or scream it when he lives in you.
We have to live so full of him that things happen because of your association with him.
You can mention the name of Jesus without being connected and nothing happens or you can be so in sync with Christ that even handkerchiefs you touch deliver the oppressed.
Greater is a handkerchief from the hands of a broken servant for Christ than a person attempting to use his name for their own benefit.
I pray this helps you to connect with the person of Jesus and as you pray in His name, you will see things start to change.
Blessings..
